lyrics

Well everyone keeps talking through their poison pointed teeth
Like I’m a child that won’t stop swearing or the bringer of disease
I ain’t got nothing that you’ll get, because you’re all immune to me
I sit here wishing I had company
And the ocean at my feet is swaying like a drunken lawyer
Who is talking to his friends about how everybody loves him
If I try to change the topic the topographic tilt will mean
I’m swimming in my clothes again

Reasons to be afraid:
Help is on its way
Your friends all know your name
You’ll have to let them in someday

So I stumble ‘round here smiling like I’m hiding something strange
Hidden underneath my armour in the cortex of my brain
And my brain’s the very thing that made me climb aboard this train
So I can’t trust it anymore
And my only ray of sunshine lives one thousand miles away
And I’ll probably never get to see her pretty face again
Because I thought that I’d be selfless and I left her on a whim
And she don’t want me anymore

My family all keep telling me that they are there for me
But I guess I’d best keep moving so they don’t have time to see
That I’m the first-born paratrooper who got tangled in a tree
And all my comrades hit the ground
And you just can’t light a match with all the gas these people spew
About their yoga pants and pension plans, how they’re better than you
Well I’ve been a lot of places and I’ve paid a lot of dues
And my opinions are my own

So, if you’re looking for a reason not to get to sleep at night
Remember silence means you’re all alone and darkness leaves you blind
So keep playing with your mobile phone whilst Government satellites
Track every fucking move you make
They can watch me all the like ‘cause I’ve got nothing left to hide
Except this knot that’s in my stomach and a relentless voice inside
That tells me “run across the country till you reach the other side
And plunge yourself into the sea”
But this country isn’t ours and that is plain enough to see
It’s ruled by racist lobby groups and fat cat mining companies
And a brainless bunch of bat-shit-boring serpent tongued MP’s
Who think that they’re above the law
So I try to make it better by forgetting who I am
And by numbing it with alcohol and girls who like my band
But I fall in love to easy so I had to change my plans
And dig a moat to keep me safe
Well a few have rowed across it or come flying from above
They came bumping into me with boredom dressed up like its love
And then knocking some things over undid all the good I’ve done
But I still want them all the same
Its like I’m a picket for a grape vine or the legs upon her throne
Like I’m propping up the things that help her not feel so alone
Well I kept the coin she kissed and gave to me then sent me home
I hope it helps my luck to change.
